Here are the answers to some of the most common questions:
How do I license your art for our church bulletin or church Powerpoint presentation?
How do I license your art as a graphic for a worship or liturgical event?
Liturgical licensing is now managed through a partnership with Diocesan Art Library. Most of the work requested on a regular basis is listed, but if you don’t see the piece you want, they can request it from me. Contact them through the customer care center listed on the site. Use the contact page on this site for any editorial and product licensing requests (i.e. not liturgy-related).
Can I order a Banner for my church event or liturgical season?
Diocesan.com produces beautiful free-standing banners, and they have several designs using my art, shown here. Contact them to ask about creating a banner with one of my designs at 1-877-212-7317 or through their Customer Care center.
In addition, my Fine Art America and Pixels.com shops also make 70″ square “Shower Curtains” which make great large, washable fabric graphics, ready to hang with pole pockets or drapery-ring holes. I use them myself at trade shows! (On Pixels, click the “home decor” section to find them).
Do you offer Prayer Cards made with your art?
Diocesan.com can design standard bulk prayer cards from my available artwork. Use their Custom Care contacts to request a design.
I also offer print-on-demand 3.5 x 5″ prayer cards in my Zazzle shop. Many of them also offer customizable copy on the back and you can order one or very small quantities. If you don’t see the image you want, you may request an addition from my current images.
Do you license for editorial or for-profit merchandise?
Yes! Contact me with the scope of your project including units printed (first-run for book use), term limit, distribution information, size of file needed and any other pertinent details of your job and company so I can figure out an appropriate use fee and make sure it’s a good fit.
Can I buy a digital download for my personal use?
No, sorry. I do not sell digital versions of my art for any private use.
It is OK to use a low-res, watermarked version of my art from this site to post on social media or use as a screen saver. It is ok to repost something I have posted on social media. Whenever possible, tag me at @JenNortonArt or link to my website: https://www.jennortonartstudio.com .
It is NOT OK to take a screen shot or use a purchased print to make any kind of merchandise. You never own the copyright to my work. All of my work is copyrighted through the United States Copyright office.
Will you illustrate my children’s book?
While I do work with recognized publishers within the Catholic market, I cannot take on personal projects of this scope.
What medium do you use?
I work mostly in acrylic paint on canvas or wood substrate, adding in mixed media as needed. I do some simple digital illustration as well, using Procreate and Adobe Illustrator.
How long does it take you to create a painting?
That’s probably the hardest question to answer! A painting can take between one week to two months to complete. Some ideas come quickly and flow well; some are more challenging. I try to move beyond just the story or person and inject emotion into the work and this can take time as I imagine different ways to interpret meaning. I allow myself the Grace to change my mind as I work with an idea.
Can I commission a piece? (i.e my favorite saint)
I am not currently taking private commissions. I do consider commissions for religious organizations or editorial use. Please be aware that I may need to schedule a piece out by weeks or even months.
Will you donate to our school/church/organization/cause auction?
Due to the heavy volume of requests I receive for donations, I require organizations to purchase artwork for auctions at my wholesale price (about 50% of retail), plus shipping. U.S. tax laws are unfavorable to artist donations, and I cannot write off the retail value of my donation. You can, however, write off the full value of your purchase. If you would like to purchase an item for donation, contact me with your request and information about your organization, event and provide a website link.
Do you sell wholesale?
I offer my hand-made Studio Greeting cards and Museum-quality prints for wholesale. Minimum opening order of $150.
Do you do retreats? Artist talks? Zoom interviews?
Yes… I am open to requests to showcase my books, Surrender All (on the Stations of the Cross) and Arise to Blessedness (on the Beatitudes) to Catholic churches and retreat centers. I can also speak about the inspiration behind some of my most popular pieces and how I felt called to create work within my Catholic tradition. Zoom, radio or TV interviews can be done anytime; in-person talks or retreat events would need to be pre-arranged and consider travel (from CA) and a stipend.
Where can I buy your original art?
Sometimes I have smaller pieces available in my studio. Much of my larger work is available through The Sacred Art Gallery in Arizona. I do my best to keep the status of any pieces updated in my Fine Art America listings.
I’m a Catholic school teacher/homeschool teacher. Do you have art for a classroom?
Check out the Catholic classroom section in my Zazzle shop for affordable posters.
Do you teach?
I will consider facilitating a workshop or artist talk centered around the themes of one of my books. I do not teach painting classes or offer any kind of private lessons.
